I’m Not a Robot Plot Summary
Kim Min-kyu is a wealthy businessman who lives an isolated life because of his severe allergy to human contact. His world changes when he meets Jo Ji-ah, who poses as an advanced humanoid AI robot, Aji 3.
The real Aji 3 was damaged and Ji-ah is asked to impersonate the robot until it can be fixed. As Min-kyu interacts with Ji-ah (believing she’s Aji 3), he starts developing feelings for her.

Does I’m Not a Robot Have a Happy Ending?
I’m Not a Robot ends with Min-kyu cured of his human allergy and no longer isolated from the world. He’s in a happy relationship with Ji-ah, and has found family in Ji-ah, the in-laws, Yoo-chul and Ri-el, and the Santa Maria team.
What Happened to Kim Min-kyu?
Min-kyu receives a video from Baek-gyun that contains evidence of Chairman Hwang’s innocence in the murder of Chairman Park. Min-kyu decides to use this information to ensure that his illness can never be used against him again.
At a press conference, Min-kyu publicly discloses his human allergy condition and credits his recovery to his interactions with the robot Aji 3. He announces that KM Group will invest heavily in AI robotics development resulting in a surge in the company’s stocks.
Now that Min-kyu no longer suffers from his human allergy, he enlists in the military as he no longer has medical exemption.
I’m Not a Robot ends with a two-year time jump showing Min-kyu returning from his military service and reuniting with Ji-ah.
Min-kyu’s personal life also sees a significant development. He deepens his relationship with Jia, expressing his feelings for her and spending more time with her. He even gets to meet Jia’s family and manages to mend his relationship with Jin-bae, Jia’s brother.
I’m Not a Robot ends with a time jump showing Min Kyu returning from his military service as his recovery means that he is no longer exempt from military service. He meets Jia and they share a passionate kiss in the snow.

What Happened to Ji-ah?
Ji-ah brainstorms plans for her future inventions/business ventures. She pitches the idea of renting out a corner of Sun-hye’s shop to use as a showroom/office. Sun-hye suggests that she ask Min-kyu to invest to cover the development fees but Ji-ah is determined to do it on her own through crowdfunding.
Two years later, Ji-ah is still an inventor and budding entrepreneur. She has a meeting with two foreign investors and demonstrates how her heart lamps work. Ji-ah achieves her goal of selling her products as the two foreign buyers place orders for the heart lamps and discuss distribution and marketing plans for them.

Do Min-kyu and Jia End Up Together?
Yes, Min-kyu and Ji-ah end up together at the end of I’m Not a Robot.
I’m Not a Robot ends with Ji-ah meeting Min-kyu after his discharge from the military and the two sharing a passionate kiss in the snow.
What Happened to Yoo-chul?
Yoo-chul learns about Min-kyu’s illness and feels remorse for the past, confessing to Ri-el that he feels responsible for Min-kyu’s illness.
At the KM board meeting, Yoo-chul takes a stand, voicing his support for Min-kyu’s leadership in defiance of his father. Yoo-chul’s support is instrumental in swaying the other board members to back Min-kyu.
After the meeting, Yoo-chul sincerely apologizes to Min-kyu for his past actions. Min-kyu then reveals to Yoo-chul that he has evidence proving that Martin was the one who killed Chairman Park. He tells Yoo-chul to convince his father to confess to lessen his sentence.
Yoo-chul thanks Min-kyu and the two childhood friends shake hands, letting go of their past grudges.
Later, Min-kyu visits Yoo-chul’s father and tells him Yoo-chul will be reinstated as CEO.

What Happened to Ri-el?
Ri-el pushes back against her father’s scheming and backs Min-kyu in the board meeting, voicing her support for his leadership along with Yoo-chul.
Later, Ri-el returns home to apologize to her father for not being the daughter he wants her to be. But she will be happy which she believes is what he truly wants deep inside.

Do Yoo-chul and Ri-el End Up Together?
Yes, Yoo-chul and Ri-el end up together.
At the end of I’m Not a Robot, Yoo-chul waits for Ri-el to finish her meeting before they head off together (with their arms linked!) to welcome Min-kyu home from the military.
What Happened to Baek-gyun?
Baek-gyun, the creator of Aji-3, continues to support Min-kyu and the Santa Maria team. He presents the team’s newest AI robot to a full house, showcasing the team’s progress in AI robotics development.
Baek-gyun’s personal life also sees a change. He goes on a date with Pi, marking a new phase in their relationship.
What Happened to Pi?
Pi gets the typical kdrama nerdy girl makeover, straightening her curly hair and ditching the glasses.
Two years later, Pi watches from the sidelines with the rest of the Santa Maria team as Baek-gyun presents their new robot to a packed audience.

Do Baek-gyun and Pi End Up Together?
Yes, Baek-gyun and Pi are together at the end of I’m Not a Robot.
Post-makeover, Pi asks Baek-gyun out and the two go on their first date.
What Happened to Jin-bae?
Jin-bae resigns from his position at KM Financial but after Hong-joo freaks out and demands he get his job back, he agrees to rescind his resignation. He meets with Min-kyu to take back his resignation letter but their horrible communication results in Min-kyu accepting the resignation.
Jin-bae is finally persuaded to take back his resignation during dinner with his family and Min-kyu on the condition that he can treat Min-kyu as his younger sister’s boyfriend outside of work.
Later in the evening, Jin-bae’s wife Hong-joo goes into labour and Min-kyu drives everyone to the hospital where Hong-joo gives birth to a healthy baby girl.
Two years later, Jin-bae is now the managing director of KM Financial. I’m Not a Robot ends with Jin-bae and the family rushing off to welcome Min-kyu home.
Who is Madame X?
The identity of Madame X (Kim Min-kyu’s mysterious guardian angel) is never revealed in I’m Not a Robot.
But my money is on the butler seen in an earlier episode speaking with Madame X’s Interpol intermediary.
Who Does Sun-hye End Up With?
Sun-hye and Hok-tal start dating…with Ssan-ip third-wheeling on their dates.
What Happened to Aji 3?
To protect Min-kyu, Baek-gyun signs away the rights to Aji 3 to Chairman Hwang for free. Aji 3 is sent to Martin and his minion, Dr. Casey, tells her she will be a military robot and the world’s most dangerous weapon.
Being a weapon goes against everything the Santa Maria team taught her and so Aji-3 breaks out of her box, determined to return home to Min-kyu’s house.
Aji 3 wanders on the streets alone, interacting with many people, but is eventually reunited with the Santa Maria team.
The Santa Maria team, Min-kyu, and Ji-ah say their goodbyes to Aji 3 as the Santa Maria team prepares to retire Aji 3, changing her face and deleting all her footage as initially promised.
Although Aji 3 will be retired, Aji 3’s learned emotional patterns will live on in their next robot.
Two years later, the Santa Maria team unveil their new male robot named “Jin”.
